I looked "rubric" up at a few dozen websites and they all tell me the same thing, such as...

"A rubric is a scoring tool for subjective assessments. It is a set of criteria and standards linked to learning objectives that is used to assess a student's performance on papers...."

Ok, but what is it actually? In plain English. I have to guess it is another way of figuring out how to grade a student, and the student can figure what needs to be accomplished in learning, etc...

All still confusuing to me.
