Tell me a little about why American Soldiers are NOT needed in Japan.

It is easier to say why US troops are needed in Japan than why not!  

A base is needed in Japan to help defend Japan against Communist China and North Korea.  Having bases in Japan also enables the US to quickly send forces to other hot spots in that area of the world in an emergency.   Look at a map, North Korea is not that far from Japan!

Young people in Japan often want all bases closed, but they have never had to survive a war.  Same for South Korea, more young people want the bases closed but the older citizens still remember what war with the North is like and most of them want the US to  keep bases in South Korea.

i think your asking why we don't have a base like we do in germany... in response to the fact that they were at war with us. I would assume that its because we put them into complete submission, and the powers that be assessed it as such. probably had something to do with that atomic bomb.

  Japan has no need for American soldiers, but it does want to be under the American nuclear umbrella, which it is.

  It is advantageous for the US to maintain military bases in Japan. The 7th Fleet aircraft carrier is based there; the air force maintains a base. The Marines have their major Pacific base in Okinawa.

While US forces remain in South Korea, the US needs support and logistiical bases in Japan.

  There is some debate within military/strategic circles as to whether forward bases are as important as they once where in light of the major airlift capacities of the US Air Force, and readiness of US forces elsewhere.

  They carry some considerable political weigth as guarantees of American comittment to defend its interests and its allies in the Far East.

  Japan now has a small but very well trained and equiped armed forces capable of defending it self.

Junichiro Koizumi Prime Minister of Japan had an active involvement in the War on Terrorism, sending thousands of soldiers from the Japanese Self-Defense Forces to help in Iraq's reconstruction after the Iraq War. Japan does not need our help with militia needs if any thing we need there help with technology. not to mention they make great movies and anime with amazingly awesome special effects.
