  1. To tell you the truth, the most affected area for global warming is the North Pole. The polar ice caps are melting and breaking off. The last chunk to break off to my knowledge was the size of 11 football fields. Now as you probably know, Ice is composed of fresh water, as salt water doesnt really freeze. When a chunk of ice shelf breaks off and migrates towards warmer waters, it melts, thus throwing off the normal salt to water ratio. When that happens, the currents shift, creating a pattern of weather phenomenon. This actually happens once every 30-50 years. So all these people freaking abotu global warming dont seem to realize that this could in fact be only an ongoing pattern that the earth goes through once in awhile. Call it mother natures PMS.

  2. On the Antarctic Peninsular, mean temperatures have increased by about 3 degrees Celsius over the last 30 years. In early 2002 the Larsen B ice shelf collapsed. A piece of ice the roughly the size of Rhode Island, and about 200 m thick broke off.

Neither of these can be absolutely proved to be linked to global warming - a temperature rise in one area does not equal a global warming. As one of the previous answers said, snowfall is increasing in other parts of Antarctica, and as far as I understand it, temperatures are at least stable though most of the continent.

  3. global warming is going to reveal antarcticas secrets

som believeAtlantis was here, the physical description matches

a doughnut shaped continent with mountains and an  inland sea ,and fossils     oftropical plants have been found there

  4. Well, once there was this continent all covered with snow at the south pole.  It was called Antarctica and was largely unexplored because it had the name of the phantom coast until Admiral Byrd on a new ship constructed at the end of WW-II went down there to see what was what.  He found lots of snow and ice all over the place and because of the way the ship was built, was able to actually get to the south pole an plant some sort of flag or plaque or something there.  They stayed there for a couple weeks and left.

Then the globe started warming and warming and warming and all of the snow and ice melted causing the newly thawed ground to flourish with flowers and trees, and pretty soon new dinosaurs started roaming around there and what was left of human kind went there and turned it into a really kewl petting zoo.

But the problem they encountered was that the exhibits kept eating the patrons of the zoo until all mankind was extince and the world was plunged back into an age of dinosaurs.

Did you like that fairytale?  I mean, I assume you wanted a fairytale because you believe in the fairytale of global warming...right?

  5. What would you like to know about it? GW's effect on the Southern Continent is something of a double edged sword. On one hand, increased temperatures are leading to higher rates of melting along the coastal regions. But on the other hand the higher temperatures lead to increased precipitation, resulting in increased rates of snowfall in the middle of the continent that are actually causing Antarctica to *gain* mass!
