  1. Each team has 18 players on the Ground and 4 on  interchange, meaning if a player on the ground is injured, he can be replaced.  You will also notice changes "without"  injury, and that will come from  the coach ,resting a player,  or if he is not playing well enough, the terminology is that he is  being Dragged .  Each team coach has a runner who exchanges messages from coach to player while the game is in progress.  Both teams also have  assistants on the edge of the ground known as trainers, and can be both male and female, who run water to aplayer or help if they suffer an injury.  Next are the umpires who adjudicate the game.  there will be three spread out between the players, and 4 on the boundary, a white line a few metres in from the fence  (2x Each side of ground ).    Now comes the hard part , the game is commonly known as" Aussie rules, "and the crowd noise is deafening, because everyone has a different opinion and believe the umpire has no idea of what he is doing when he blows his whistle to award a free kick.  The administrators of the game continually tinker with the rules, during the off season and eventually everyone is so bloody confused, nobody really knows what the heck is happening   players have to score by 'kicking' the ball through The big sticks as explained in another answer, and another umpire between the posts adjudicates  if its a goal or point  scored .   Its a point if touched , hits the post or goes between 1x small post and 1x large , and 6 pts between Large posts . The ball is kicked back into play if a point is  scored, but  returned to centre circle for a bounce, if its a goal .   In this game the teal and black and white team PORT ADELAIDE should be favoured to win on current form .

  2. Australia has many types of football, like Aussie Rules, Rugby League and Union. New South Wales and Queensland are mainly into Rugby league while Victoria and South Australia (Adelaide) are into Aussie rules. In Aussie rules, pretty much they use a huge oval shaped ground and have to kick the ball between two main posts at their respective ends and will do anything to grab the ball off the other team, like tackle or intercept or whatever

  3. Sorry, I have no clue about the rules.  I've seen it a few times on TV and it is fun to watch.  I know they get 1 point for an "outside goal" and I think 3 for "Inside".

I don't understand the bouncing and kicking and tossing, but it is more fun to watch than US Football or Soccer.

I'd like to see answers to this too.

    Good question.

  4. al li know is that its like soccer to us.  google it, cuz thats tricky.  sorry if that didn't help.  but good luck! :)

  5. Check out www.afl.com.au - and pick a team! In Adelaide most people go for Adelaide Crows (red, blue and yellow) or Port Adelaide Power (black, white and teal).

There are four posts. If the ball goes between the outer posts, it's one point. If it goes through the middle two posts - it's a goal and they get six points.

    Good luck!
