i'm from California. and i have never been outside of North America, but next year i plan to be a foreign exchange student in England. I would love to hear everything you know about it. Especially, what London is like and some of the quieter cities like Liverpool and Manchester.

(please dont tell me that they have bad weather, because i happen to love rainy cold weather.)

  1. England is a dump

That's all you need to know.

  2. sorry but liverpool is not a nice place. sorry to break it to you.

  3. Congratulations!

The best thing is finding out all the little quirks and differences for yourself. Don't be shy, chat with people there, see as much as you can, experience life there and you will be telling us all much better information about it. Keep a journal. Always be careful when exploring new places.

Sometimes the CIA factbook will give you some interesting info about countries.

    https://www.cia.gov/library/publications...

    Or get a travel guide.

Understand a little of the history of a place. Read a wikipedia article on it.

Also, sometimes the similarities among us all are pretty interesting too.

    Good luck.

  4. there is not much going on here, and its a country on a slippery slope at the moment

everything is so expensive, and the weather is pretty depressing. You may say you like rainy cold weather, but when it's the 20th day in a row and you haven't seen the sun, it will start to depress you

the people are nice for the most part if they come from good backgrounds.

but the majority of the youth of today have nothing to do, so will sit in local parks getting drunk on vodka, then will go and mug someone or break some windows or vandalise something

anti social behaviour is a major problem at the moment, with young people havving no respect for anyone or society

i suppose the countryside is nice, but i wake up seeing that everyday, so it's nothing special now

The country is a bit overcrowded as well, too many people live here.

it's not good to have 60 million people on such a small island

but for all it's flaws it's ok to live here, if your living in the right place, there are worst countries about

the best countryside is in the North of England, the pennine Hills, lake District, Yorkshire Dales, Peak District, North York Moors, and the people from the North of England you will find are more laid back and friendlier

if you do go to Manchester, jsut stay away from Moss Side, because people who go there get shot at

  5. London is Fantastic!  Tons of stuff to see, loads of discounts for students and ever so much better than NY or LA for music, museums and shopping.  They've got 5 top orchestras, a huge nightlife of musicals, amazingly knowledgeable and polite people and a mass array of the best of everything from tiny bookstores to Harrod's.  Go to Leicester Square for cheap half price musical tickets, but even still, prices are better than on Broadway.   Shopping is diverse, but food isn't.  Actually, the best meals you'll eat are either those you cook yourself, those you'll eat if invited by someone, and any restaurant that's not English.  Their fish and chips are ok; I prefer the Belgians, myself.  The countryside is gorgeous, with Cambridge and Oxford leading the way.  They do drive on the other side of the street, but if you're just studying, don't bother with renting a car.  The transit system is terrific and gets you just about anywhere pretty reasonably, unless there's been a bomb threat.  More than anything, though, I just love the Brits.  They have a great world sense about them, unlike us here in the US.  Life matters and they live it to the fullest with a terrific sense of humour.  I wish you the same!  Have a great trip!

  6. Well first of all they eat a dish called spotted d**k, secondly they call cigarettes f**s.  I would personally stay away from England but i would definitely check out Amsterdam.

  7. God save the queen! lol  idont know anything about it except that its pretty cold right?
