Tell me about Lime wire.

so i heard that songs r free and i also heard that its illegal i've also heard tons of other things and i'm really confused so please tell me everything that you kno about lime wire.

Well Limewire is a downloadable software just like anti-virus software that can is a program on your computer and allows you to access a data file server of nothing but mp3's and wma files(music files). They don't actually have every song in the world but they actually have more songs than Itunes. The program is illegal because of one thing- it's not copyrighted so in other words, the owners of Limewire steal and hack the computers of recording companies and distribute it to their customers before the song even becomes popular, let alone put up for sale. The government really can't do anything about it though because if they went after everyone who had anything to do with it, they wouldn't have enough prison cells. One more thing- it give you a buttload of viruses which will take you forever to take out.

Ha...I've been using it for a few years now.  It works great!  I just type in the song I'm looking for and then import it into my iTunes once it's done downloading.  Most of the songs on my iPod are from Limewire.  If it's illegal, nothing has happened to me....

the music IS free...but i dont think its legal...because basically anything you dont pay for...IS...also i heard it messes up your computer...so yeah

It's a program you can download to share files, not just music but any files. The problem is, it's very easy to say something is a music file then attach a trojan or a virus. There are even ones out there that will break your ipod permanently. Also because the files are downsized so many times they end up sounding hallow or too quiet. All in all, downloading is a bad idea. If you really like an artist, buy their album, or at least borrow it from a friend.

Yup everything is free but you should be careful cause there are a lot of viruses,spyware etc. in some files that you might download!!So if you want to use it make sure you have a virus protection software installed!!

Just so you know you could download torrents too!!Just search it,you can find more things(cd's,movies,series,software etc.)!!

Ive been using it for years, it freezes your computer and slows it down, It sucks if your firewalls and everything is really protective, but if you have a good one it will let in the files, but if the files are corrupted it will tell you, so it all depends on your comp. otherwise great program.

It is illegal. but peoples justification in that is "therers too many people. they'll never catch me. but I'm just gonna get 100,000 dollars worth of music on my comp."

think about it this way.

say your an artist. a beginning artist, like people know the name, but you aren't making "tickets sold out in 2 minutes" tours. and you depend on the money you make from selling albums to help out a lot.

and someone uploads the songs to limewire for all to get for free. guess what? your source of money is shrinking.

if you really like an artist, you can buy your own music.

I have spent over 400 dollars on music.

most of which go to not so big name artists.

or Christian artists.

I know what it feels like when your source of money is your music.

I'm a 15 year old professional violinist.

I haven't made any recordings yet.

I don't have a record deal.

I don't know if or when i will do that.

But I am still a professional violinist for now.

and limewire is the most annoying thing in the world.
