for Yahoo's sake.. if it were a question.. it'd go something like..

What's your favourite footy experience? (as a spectator ONLY!)

So Tonight..

StKilda vs Carlton, MCG, Round 15, 11/7/2008

So my sister and I sit down at the footy at about 7:30 and everything's "Go Blues" because we are sitting next to (near enough) the Carlton cheer squad (ccs). Siren goes for the start and soon enough the Saints are 2 goals down. naturally the ccs are being very loud.. but when the saints kick two goals of there own there is not much noise.

So for the rest of the match I (and my sister) decide I'll be as loud as possible.

The second quarter is even until the last 5-10mins where StKilda kick ahead of the Blues and the cs fall very silent.

3rd Quarter and the Saints add to more goals to their lead and Carlton people are getting quite annoyed with the match.

So the last quarter, Carlton 33 points down at 3/4 time. But the first 15 mins of the last are all CArlton and again everyhting is like...

  1. I shall tell you on sunday after we beat the tigers!!

    EDIT:

although cousins come back against sydney will be hard to top!!

  2. **My greatest experience I've ever had at the footy was at last year's Grand Final.  It was the best moment of my life when I heard that siren go.

The Friday night before the Grand Final when we beat Collingwood was also a fantastic experience because I knew how close my boys were and then seeing Jimmy Bartel win the Brownlow medal - I was so proud of him receiving it.**

  3. this yr wen i sat in the st kilda social club 4 collingwood v st kilda, many fights and they tried 2 throw me out and they kept abusing ther own team wen they were chipping it and abusing milne(the rat) wit his stupid run around snaps wen he was straight in front, along wit me abusing them 4 those 2 things aswell, and we won by 9 points

  4. It wasn't at the football but I was getting tickets for a fitzroy fundraiser the fitzroy boys were doing some rehearsals at the foyer of dallas brookes hall and I started having a chat with paul roos he invited me to have a drink with them  at the hotel over the road and I sat next to richard osborne and matty dundas and chatted to  Alastair lynch, garry pert, john blakey and the rest of the boys  it was a fantastic 3-4 hours Ozzy bought bought me a beer It was just fantastic even though it was probarly at least 15 years ago it seems like yesterday a highlight of my life

  5. Sittting behind the Tigers Cheer Squad at Aurora, and screaming ourselves horse!

Unfortunatly Hawthorn whipped us, but that didnt stop it being a brilliant day

Before that it was meeting all the Richmond players after (another) match at Aurora, and my "sisters" kids getting their photos taken with heaps of the players and getting autographs.

I remember Richo was out ( think it was a knee), and we saw him as he came into the ground on crutches and were able to say good-day to him.  REALLY top bloke, who is allways happy to sign and pose for photos.

  6. watching west coast get smashed is allways a good experience

  7. The best experience I've had at a game was a few years back at a Collingwood vs Port preliminary final (Back in 2003). The Magpies smashed the power, and you should have seen the look on the Port supporters faces! They thought they had it in the bag! Unfortunately for Collingwood though, the following week we got smashed in the GF (Worst day of my life :[ )

  8. getting drunk is always good

  9. yelling abuse at idiot supporters!!

  10. Well one of my most memorable experiences was in 2005 when Swans were playing Geelong at the SCG in a Semi Final after they'd gone down in a close match against the Eagles at Subiaco the week before and looked slow and tired.  Geelong were in front during the whole of the match and then the Swans picked themselves up and started playing better.  It was the wonderful individual effort of Nick Davis kicking 4 goals I think it was in that last quarter and slotting in a very difficult one just about on siren time to get the team across the line.  Now during the third quarter we spent a lot of the time drinking beer and consoling ourselves - well maybe next year - we were so depressed that we weren't even watching the game - it seemed a foregone conclusion.  But that late comeback started to stir things on and I couldn't believe it when I saw it was now possible but still unlikely that we could get up and win and so advance to still have a chance to get into the Preliminary Final and a similar scenario developed as you describe as the Cats supporters "knew" they would win but Nick saved the day and the Swans supporters were so full of ourselves thinking a miracle had just been witnessed (which it had).    And 2 weeks later another miracle - that defensive mark of Leo Barry's right on the death knock in the Grand Final and the years I had waited to see the Swans win a premiership and the wonderful feeling in witnessing it "live".

And to top things off (re that Geelong game) one of the alcohol outlets as you leave the ground had free beer on tap so that was another bonus.  The Geelong supporters had been so noisy all night and The Swans supporters only got their bit in in the dying moments.

  11. went to the E.J Whitten legends game back in '07, and got to go down to the rooms and get player autographs n stuff after the game. ended up getting Rowan Smith's signature on my 2006 membership card. since he had just retired i thought it was great. That and beating collingwood in that final in '06    GO DOGGIES!!!!
