what are the advantages and disadvantages of the kind of housing you live in?

which do you prefer , a flat or a house?why?

i live in a 4 bedroom house, although theres only 2 plus a baby. lol. umm its good coz i have a lot of room and a garden..... bad coz i have to clean it! but id hate to live in an appartment, everyone knows everything and what ur doing.

I'm 48, separated and live in a 1 bedroom apartment. It's all I need and discourages the children from moving in. It's also close to the beach and a social strip.

advantages are that it doesn't take long to clean

a 5 bedroomed semi-detached end terrace house..

a spacious dining room, a comfortably medium sized television room, a reasonably sized kitchen including breakfast bar and utility services, a large but narrow garden, a garage big enough for 1 large car or 2 small cars.

i prefer my old flat to this house as it was easier to tidy because it was smaller but the house is much easier to invite guests and more room to put everything, a flat is like a painting but a house is a canvas that you can paint yourself.

i live in a unit, good in that i dont ahve to maintain the gardens. thats about the only good thing about it - if i didnt like gardening tha tis,

bad things? where do i start. neighbours complain about everything u do, nosie above u and below u and beside u, no complete privacy, no pets, well dogs in particular, lots and lots of rules, dirty neighbours, lazy neighbours that dont no how to take a bin out so on and so on

I live in a large two storey mid-terrace.  Three double bedrooms plus a loft bedroom (with stairs).  Decent size kitchen, separate dining room and big living room.

Advantages:  I'm 19.  I live with my fiance who is also 19.  So we only use one bedroom and therefore have a load of space to expand our family (baby on the way).

Disadvantages:  Bugger all!  I own the best home ever!

I live in a 5 bedroom house on 7 hectares of bush. Our place is surrounded by farms (custard apples, mangoes, horses).

Disadvantages - we're 14 km from the centre of Brisbane and being surrounded by other large acreage properties, you never make any neighbourhood friendships because everyone is hundreds of metres away from their nearest neighbours. We don't have town water and have to pump water from the creek, collect rain water or buy water (as we've needed to do since the bad drought began). We have only recently been able to get decent broadband as the nearest exchange was too far away.

Advantages

We live in the most beautiful bush and have magnificent views over kilometers of beautiful semi-rural valley. We have no traffic or traffic noise and never hear anything from any other property. We have wallaroos, wallabies, wombats and echidnas at our doorstep, fantastic remnant rainforest in our gullies and the bird life is incredible - I've counted over 40 species of birds in our own yard. Brisbane city is only 20 minutes away by car and a large supermarket and shopping centre are about 8 minutes away, so we have the best of both worlds.

I've lived here for a long time and would find it impossible to live anywhere like suburbia or in a unit - I'm far too noisy and would be kicked out of most places for disturbing the neighbours.

5 year old, 4 bedrooms x2 bathrooms, Double Brick walled and Iron (colourbond) roofed house in a semi rural suburb within 13kms of the CBD.

Advantage: Bought before the housing boom so our equity is much greater than our mortgage.

Disadvantage: A lot of building is going on throughout the suburb, so it's losing all the farms.

A large 10 year old brick veneer 4 bed 2 bath home on large b lock with swimming pool ,disadvantages are living in the suburbs makes it difficult to get around without having 2 cars in the family ,advantages are it's been a great place to raise our family.
