  1. I was hyperthyroid with my first pregnancy and hypothyroid with my second (being treated by a physician with medication both times).  Both times I was told that it would be difficult to get pregnant (which it wasn't).  With the hyperthyroid I had to be monitored fairly often to be sure the baby was growing ok and not developing a goiter.  With this one, being hypothyroid, I just need to have my blood checked every 4-6 weeks for the first 5-6 months (maybe through whole pregnancy) to be sure horomone levels are ok since those go all crazy during pregnancy.  Not sure if it's related but w/ my hyperthyroid pregnancy I was so sick (nauseous) the whole time I took Zofran until the day I delivered where with this one (hypo) I was sick but not too bad first trimester and seem to be having a pretty good 2nd trimester, I only get nauseous with bad smells or if I push myself pretty hard for a couple of days I'll have a day that I don't feel good most of the day.

  2. I've suffered from an overactive thyroid for the last few years and I'm 27 weeks pregnant. I had managed the problem for a while and quit taking my meds (oops).

I go to the OB just as much as everyone else, it's just now that I'll be monitored a bit more to double check that our baby's growing okay. It hasn't been a problem for me at all so far - I didn't know that it might until recently.

    Hope that helped!!
