any group can be very functional and serve alot of people- it does take time however. depends on the topic if it will do well-anyone can start a group and decide later to delete it.

It is both enjoyable and hard work. I have several groups (own them and moderate most of them) You should at least dedicate 2 hours each day for your groups and send / read / approve messages, approve members etc etc.

All in all, it is nice to have groups because you make new friends and talk to people about similar interests but sometimes it is hard work and demotivating.

It is very easy to start a group and you have places that you can advertise your group and invite people to join your group.
