  1. Our plane landed there, we boarded a series of buses (we were an orchestra on tour) and we departed.  We did not stop there but from what little I saw, it was a very nice and clean -- fresh would be a good descript) city.

  2. Hi Dion!

Stockholm is often referred to as the Venice of the North as it is a series of interconnected island.

The cental island is called Gamla Stan (Old Town) and is the original medieval town with lots of cobbled streets and the Royal Palace.

To the north is Norrmalm (North Island) which is the general shopping area, department stores etc.

To the east is Ostermalm (East Island) which is a very posh area with lots of designer shopping.

To the south is Sodermalm (South Island) which is the trendy artists area with lots of quirky shops and bars.

Further out in the water is Skeppsholman which has several museums including a fairly new and fantastic museum of modern art.

The other big island is Djurgarden which has the Wasa museum ( a beautiful boat which sunk in the 17c and has been brought to the surface and restored), an open air museum and fun-fair.

There are boat day trips out to the archipelago which is stunning.

Each underground station is a work of art by an artist - check out the station at Kungstradgarden near the Opera House!!!!

There are loads of bars and clubs so you will not be stuck for nightlife!

    Enjoy your trip!
