  1. lower the setting on your water heater, raise the setting on your air conditioner. Put in an attic fan. This is a great cooling savings because it cools off your  attick which makes it a lot easier to cool your house. We just put a ceiling fan in our family room where we spend most of our time and it really cools things off and makes it so we use the AC a lot less. CFL bulbs in as many fixtures as you can.

You can also connect things like stereo/TV and computer/printer/modem/etc to powerstrips and turn off the powerstrips when you aren't using those things. I have read that the appliances in the typical home use up about 13% of our electricity WHEN THEY AREN'T EVEN ON!

  2. Wash everything but whites in cold water. Use fans and ceiling fans. Open windows at night and set fans in the windows to pull in the cool night air instead of running an air conditioner/central air. If using an air conditioner, close off rooms that you aren't going to be in long - ie: bathroom, bedrooms during the day, etc. Keep curtains/blinds closed during daytime/sun hours. Use fluorescent bulbs. Don't run the water while you're brushing your teeth. If you really want to save water - when you shower - wet yourself down, then turn off the water while you lather up. Turn the water back on to rinse. Put low electrical use night lites in the kitchen, hallways, etc., so that when you're moving through the rooms in the evening, you don't need to turn on the lights in those rooms unless you're going to be in there to do something. Set the water heater temperature to a cooler setting. Put a water heater blanket around your water heater to aid in insulating it. Wash dishes by hand rather than running a dishwasher. Use power strips to shut off any electrical equipment, not in use, that has an adapter at the end shaped like a box. These are energy vampires which means they continue to suck electricity even when turned off (unless disconnected from the outlet via the plug or a power strip). When you purchase new appliances, ensure that they are "energy star" brands with the  lowest electrical use rating.
