  1. have everyone bring a pack of diapers, and for every pack that they bring, have them write their name on a sheet of paper and put it in a jar. then get a good raffle prize, and draw a few names out for prizes!

  2. Well... articles on this site could be great ideas...

  3. play pin the bib on the baby

  4. Well for my invitations I put my son's actual ultrasound picture saying he was a boy on it and the info of course. Everyone loved them.

  5. I would have loved to do fancy favors and prizes, but ummm, money's tight right now for everyone.  Part of a shower is to help the parents with expenses, not blow the bank on a party.

One of the favors I liked were personalized candles with the name, event, and date.  Problem is, they're EXPENSIVE!  I went to the dollar store, bought votive holders and blue votives, then ordered the personalized stickers from ebay, it was a store called Kimbumberly.  Then we put the stickers on the votive holders ourselves, just like the websites that were going to charge $100 plus to do it.  The votive holders were big enough that we put the other small favors in them too, instead of bags.  The ebay store made me personalized address return labels (for thank yous), and a scratch off game for a nice door prize.   She did the same design, so it all matched (blue footprints).  It was a big shower, but it was pretty cheap.

Then we added a blue footprint lollipop to the glass holder, a package of foot fizzies (blue footprint, from the dollar store) and a pen that went with the Anaheim Angels theme the mother chose (it was the baby and the husbands name, Angel),

As far as gifts, we had one really nice one, a bottle of wine with a set of glasses ($20 total, thank you Target), but we did the game prizes from dollar store (cute candle set, with holder), a few others from the $ store, and then a pretty coffee mug from Starbucks, a small plant (in a pot) and a set of three lotions from the $ store (but they were name brand), and a picture frame from Cost Plus world market.

  6. I think you should stop searching and read this article about Unique Baby Shower Center Piece:

  7. The best advice I can give anyone planning a baby shower is to skip the games. No one likes them.  If you do have games, please, for the love of all things holy, do not give your guests a cross word puzzle or word find. Your guests are likely not in 6th grade.

Do something simple and elegant. Have a nice lunch in a casual setting. Don't put up cheesy decorations.

Make sure any prizes or favors you give out is something you would actually enjoy yourself. No one wants lotion from the dollar store, but most people would enjoy a bag of starbucks coffee beans or a gift card. Buy your lotion or candles from Bath and Body Works or some other decent shop.

Same goes with candy favors. Adults don't eat hard sugar shapped rattles. Just be logical and remember the age of the pregnant mom and the guests.

Oh, and don't tell guests what to bring on the invitation. Nothing says tacky like "bring a pack of diapers to enter a raffle". If every guest is buying in to a $9 raffle you better have a really nice prize that multiple women can and will win. Like a $25 gift card... I dunno, it seems greedy to me.. "Bring a present and diapers!"

  8. I dont know how unusual it is but I have never heard of it till I searched, but we are having a book party. With the gift instead of a card they sign their name in a childrens book. It helps start a great collection for baby. We usually throw the cards out anyways. I loved the idea. Good luck!!
