  1. Most of the stuff that's been written is utter tosh. I was a student in Liverpool and Mossley Hill is about as safe as you can be in any major UK city. It's a nice area with quite a big student community.

  2. its up north

  3. One of the things that really annoys me about this site is the utter tosh posted as fact by some people.  If you don't know the HONEST answer to a question - then why make a fool of yourself by posting nonsense and misleading the person who asked.

Mossley Hill isn't the best neighbourhood but it in certainley in the top five.

The area is mostly residential with a few local businesses scattered around the district. Housing is mainly semi-detached, with occasional detached and some pleasant terraced streets.

The area around Sefton Park has many large and impressive Victorian villas; Mossley Hill is well-known for containing some of the most superb Victorian architecture in Liverpool. One of the best north-west schools, Liverpool College, is located within the area.

Penny Lane, made famous by The Beatles, is in Mossley Hill, running between Allerton Road and Greenbank Road. It is an attraction for tourists and locals alike. There are two public houses on Penny Lane: the Dovedale Towers and the Penny Lane Wine Bar. Two famous Liverpool parks, Sefton Park and Greenbank Park, are located in Mossley Hill.

The Dovedale Towers pub (recently renamed the "Alma de Santiago") stands on the corner of Dovedale Road, where Dovedale Junior School is located. This was the school of famous Liverpudlians Jimmy Tarbuck, John Lennon and John Power. Dovedale Road eventually leads to Rose Lane, the location of Calderstones school, where the Beatles originally came together. It is now a science specialist college. In turn, this is located near the city's police horse training centre, just north of Mossley Hill's main residential area.

The Mossley Hill area is on one of the routes of the Magical Mystery Tour bus, named after one of the Beatles albums. Every year, millions of tourists come to see this area. It is important to both Beatles fans and locals.

The area is also home to the Greenbank Halls of Residence and Carnatic Halls of Residence student accommodation complexes (belonging to the University of Liverpool). Greenbank Halls include Derby and Rathbone Hall and Roscoe and Gladstone Hall: commonly known as D&R; and R&G respectively. Carnatic Halls is the largest of the University of Liverpool accommodation complexes including 6 halls: Morton House, Lady Mountford House, Dale Hall, McNair Hall, Salisbury Hall and Rankin Hall.

It shows crime rates, unemployment figures, average incomes, house prices and all sorts of other information you might find useful.

I hope the above information is helpful.

  4. I think Ak23566 has said most about it already. I take it you will be staying in Student accommodation. The area is good for students. The main shopping area is on Allerton Road where there are plenty of shops, Tesco,Boots, Woolworths etc. There is also a couple of Bars which are lively and some show the Premiership Matches Live.Just down the road is Rose Lane from Student Accommodation where you will find more bars and shops and of course the chip shop you need afterwards. There is a Train Station on Rose Lane called Mossley Hill which takes you to Lime Street or you can get the bus into the city which takes about 20 minutes
