how is it possible that we are actually floating on a huge mass of lava without actually drowning in it?

  1. bouyancy

    any material or object immersed in a fluid will tend to rise through the

    fluid if the fluid density is greater than the material density. The force

    associated with buoyancy is the difference between the weight of the

    displaced fluid and the weight of the immersed material.


  2. Assume that we are in the floating ship.Instead of water we have lava .

  3. The density of the Earth's crust and the temperature of the Earth's atmosphere.  Compared to the hot mantel, the cold atmosphere is a great influence to the Earth's surface.  The atmosphere keeps kilometers deep of crust cool.  That is why lava at the surface hardens and cools rather quickly.  Oh yes, we would not drown in it, we wouldn't exist.

  4. we know that lighter things float ............. due to buoyancy  as the ship floats in ocean and in red sea due high density things are not drown similarly the earth crust floats over the highly dense magma which is made up of heavy metals like iron , nickel,lead mercury etc.....

  5. we must be lighter if we are floating - how about that?
