  1. actually i believe they get union benefits

  2. Look it up with the Better Business Bureau.

  3. I don't think it's a scam, but... you could ask the local union what they would recommend. Noticed they give CDL class A training and you don't have to go to school to get a CDL class A. So, it could be there is somewhere you could get a job and get on the job training paid for by the company he plans to work for. The benefit would be the job placement service, but there is no guarantee that there would be work in your area on the equipment he was trained on, and there were several levels to choose from. Your best bet would be to have the job first. Or ask a company in your area what training you would need in order to get a job with them. It says right in there that starting average is $15/hour. This can be very seasonal work though, and to really succeed you need to have personal contacts. Who you know is for more important than what you know most of the time in this kind of work. They won't hire you long enough for you to prove to them what you know.

And... if you are thinking about financing this for him off of your pay... I wouldn't. There are too many other options that look better to me.

  4. it seems pretty legitimate  and i hear theres good money in construction
