  1. I have several. Zebras glo lights, Kuhlli loach, and an oto. They each are tropical fish. I feed them once a day, change their water once a week. Check water parameters.

And a goldfish, same except, feed twice a day, small amounts. Bigger fish. Clean him once a week, check water parameters.

  2. my fave was an oscar...it was fun to watch him grow!!!

as he got bigger, he had to be removed from the tank when it needed cleaning, which was hard and stressful for him

it was also fun to feed him goldfish when he was bigger...i just bought like 30 goldfish once a week and let them loose in the tank and he ate when he was hungry!!!

awesome fish for someone that has time to take care of a (eventually) big fish...a great conversation piece

  3. i own(ed) 2 african dwarf frogs, they are fun to keep and the answer above me covers everything about keeping them as far as i know, the only thing you must make sure of is that you escape proof your tank, i lost both my frogs and my red crab through a small hole where the cables leave my tank

my favorite fish at the moment are the smaller gourami's i have 2 dwarfs and 2 pearl blues in a community tank and they are the most active and hardiest fish i have, i've never had any problems with one apart from one got a maggot type parasite on its gill, which was sorted with a general anti parasite additive to the water.

another species i enjoy is my black and normal neon tetra's they shoal really well and its fun to watch them chase each other

  4. African Dwarf Frogs are cute, hardy, and very mild tempered. They are truly aquatic and do not need to get out of the water. They do very well in a large fish bowl with one Betta, from three to five Ghost Shrimp, a Mystery Snail, and some Live Aquatic Plants. But unlike those animals these frogs need to eat live Black Worms at least twice a week.

There is another frog called the African Clawed Frog, which is a predator and is illegal in the state of California, so we've never had them or even seen a live one.

The African Clawed Frogs are easy to distinguish from the African Dwarf Frogs by the number of claws on their hands and by the location of their eyes on their heads. The African Clawed Frogs have 3 claws, and the African Dwarf Frogs have 4 "fingers" on each hand. An ACF has eyes on top of its head, and an ADF has eyes on the sides of its head.

These small African Dwarf Frogs can live in fish bowls and aquariums with or without an aquarium heater at a temperature between about 65 and 82 degrees F.

African Dwarf Frogs need live food such as Live Black Worms and live brine shrimp. Perhaps they will eat frozen brine shrimp and frozen blood worms. A few frogs will eat freeze dried blood worms and maybe even some flake fish food or dry shrimp pellets.

Plan on feeding Live Black Worms to your African Dwarf Frogs at least twice a week. I feed my frogs Live Black Worms every other day.

If you keep fish with your Frogs, it will be a problem feeding Live Black Worms to your Frogs, because the fish will eat the Black Worms before the frogs find the worms.

One solution to this problem is to buy an inexpensive turkey baster, and use it to squirt the worms down near the Frogs, so the Frogs can eat some of the worms before the fish eat all the worms. This method usually works.

Incidentally, these turkey basters are not labeled for use in aquariums, so using them in an aquarium will violate our usual guideline of only using items in our aquariums that are labeled for use in aquariums.

But these basters are manufactured for use around human foods, so we presume that turkey basters are safe for use with our fish too.

African Dwarf Frogs will congregate together in a corner or under an ornament. They seem to enjoy being together, so it's probably best to keep more than one together.

These frogs are good tank mates for Small Tetras like Neon Tetras and Glow Light Tetras, Harlequin Rasboras, White Clouds, one Betta, Ghost Shrimp, and Corydoras Catfish.
