I'm seriously considering attending University in Finland. I'm from the United States. Obviously it being a different country its to be..different, lol. So anyone whose been or lives there, could you tell me what its like there? Some main differences between there and the U.S.? Things I might -need- to know ?

Anything would be helpful :)

  1. For sure I don't have to tell you it's extremely cold in winter.

I assume you will be based in Helsinki. The biggest employer in Helsinki is Nokia so if your studying Telecommunications your in the right place.

That said it's a great city. Lots to do when your out of school. English is widely understood.

The Finns know how to party. Expensive though and only about 3 hours of daylight in mid winter. In mid summer it hardly gets dark.

    you won't regret it.

  2. Some more information can be found from these websites: http://virtual.finland.fi and http://www.finnguide.fi. Finland is actually very popular destination for exchange students (up to the university level), so it cannot be a bad choice! Welcome!
