  1. i love surfing i think its the best thing ever

  2. I think about all the trouble that people go to to get into the ocean and that really the ocean is just constantly throwing us out of it.

  3. surfing feels totally awesome.

    Worth You Try'it!!!

  4. surfing feels totally awsome. you just start paddling and get up on that wave and then jump up on your board and all of a sudden your just floatin accross the water. for starters just keep the nose up and you should be fine.

  5. the first time i surfed i was 7 (im 16 now). my dad took me out in the water and i wsa scared to death. but he just told me not to worry about wiping out or drowning or anything. so i just thought of being on a boat, and it really is like being on a boat, and you feel so safe with your board, and it is like no other feeling. the sun is hot, th water is dancing around your pruney toes. and i love just puting my hand out and feeling the water and i love the smell of the salt. {but that not even the best part}. then you get out far enough to catch a wave. and you see the big wave and you get this adreniline rush of mixed emotions like excitiment/fear/boldness, and its the strangest feeling. so then you paddle really fast and try to go faster then the wave and you get to excited andd when you fianlly catch it, your just overjoyed and so concentrated all at once. so then you keep paddle and then all of a sudden you get taken up by the wave and it is guiding you through the water and it feels like a ride @ disneyland only 1000 times better. and then once you feel confedent enough you stand up and try to hold you balance and you feel soo incredbly accoplished; and then its smooth saling from then on.. hope that helped!

  6. Its about half as fun as boogy boarding.

  7. the feeling of surfing cant be explained it really should just be felt im not some lame hippie thats trying to get all technical but you just have to feel it for yourself

when you see a wave that you start paddling for everything in your head becomes blank and nothing even matters. when you get up on a powerful wave dropping in with so much speed the feeling of your knees about to buckle as you do a bottom turn is priceless theres nothing that can compare to catching your perfect wave and shredding the face like a canvas

oh yeah I'd take deep water over shallow breaks any day just dont panic when a wave keeps you down and you get the feeling of vertigo

  8. I think snowboarding is more fun than surfing.  Don't get me wrong, I love surfing.  Its probably just because I'm not that strong of a swimmer.  Still, I love to go (especially with trained lifeguards).  If you think you would be scared, take lessons.  The instructors will take care of you.  There is nothing like paddling out through the waves. You feel  as though the waves are gonna take you out, but then you go right through them.  Then the first time you stand up; WOW, what a rush.  You should definitely try surfing its amazing, and gives you something to do when there's no snow on the ground.

  9. Surfing is the most awesome rush of peace and thrill. The ocean seems to have a calming affect, and when you take off on your first wave its an absolute thrill. You really should try it sometime

  10. Catching a great wave is like riding fresh powder by yourself on a perfect hill.

Getting barreled is mind blowing, you will always remember your first.

Give it a go, you already have the co-ordination to do.

Don't worry about the deep water - when you get out there, and start catching waves, you will forget all about it.

Good luck dude, hope you do give it a go - you wont regret it.

  11. Surfing is the only sport allowing you to feel the movement of our beautiful earth and being in that movement is mind blowing! Nothing comes for free though on this planet, so keep on practicing and practicing!

  12. I will ignore the goon with the bodyboarding comment and just say this...  Surfing truly is a unique experience.  It is one of those things that you actually find yourself daydreaming about when you aren't doing it, and in a constant state of satisfaction when you are.  You can be out for hours upon hours and say to yourself 'okay this will be my last wave, i am dead tired,' only to take a wave in, get so stoked, and turn right around to paddle out for another set.  I am sure I am not the only one feeling that way either.

  13. Surfing is one of those sports where once you try it, you're hooked. I too was nervous about the deeper water and sharks and so forth and so on, but after catching the first wave, you forget about all of that. If you are still scared, you might feel more comfortable surfing in the general area of other more experienced surfers. That's what I did, and I felt better. Once you're finnished for the day, and you go home adn go to bed, you still feel like you are surfing, just like the same feeling you get after being in a wave pool, only 10X better. Surfing is a way of life. I say go for it. You have nothing to loose and everything to gain.

  14. It's great. Forget about deep water. Sharks can getcha in less than three feet of water. But then again in surfing you are much less likely to hit a tree at 30-45mhp. Of course you can drown real quick too, I guess. But you could get hit by a bus in the morning too, life is too short to worry about the what-ifs. Get out there and give it a shot. As a snow boarder you've already got the balance down pretty good, it isn't that different. Except that you don't have to "catch" a mountain, you just point down that way and go, if something gets in your way. Turn. Or so I hear from Lane Meyer.

My first time surfing was when I was about 8 or 9 years old. We moved to Hawaii and I learned how to swim (mostly) in the ocean. I started with the boogie board and moved up to a thrown away (broken off nose) surf board. I never got real good at it, but it was still fun. I had a few memorable wipe outs that resulted in some bloody water, but hey it's all good.

  15. Surfing, in it's original text is known to the Hawaiians as He'e Nalu.  "He'e" being to slide or slippery, and "Nalu" meaning wave.  You put them together, and you get wave sliding.  It's been around since forever.  The feel is undescribable.  There is no other sound like the inside of a barrel.  You should try it.

  16. its really hard to explain the adrenaline rushing through your body!. It's so awesome! You feel like you have conquered it all. I also feel tranquility and peace.

  17. Its hard to explain, I think of it as a cross between free falling, s*x, and distance running.

My first time, I wiped out so much I thought I'd never get it. I finally caught a wave that I stood up on and I was hooked.

  18. It is awesome!!! But if you have not done ot before then try a buggy-board first!
