  1. Lake Alice is one of the many 'dune lakes' along NZ's

    sandy coastal stretches.

In the Lake Alice area is a larger lake with full recreational facilities around it, Dudding Lake.

These landforms recur in the Kawhia, South Kaipara, Poutu, Dargaville, Hokianga, and northern peninsula areas too. And other places as well.

Some are stocked with sport fish.

  2. It was a mental health hospital, and was accused of using electric shock treatment, and a type of illegal injection in their treatment, ummmm it was like a really big farm and used to be self sufficient, had its own livestock, bakery, workshop and stuff, and even a vege garden if i remember correctly. i think its closed now, i think it closed in 1999. dont think it ever re-opened. thats about all i know really.

Not sure if they were convicted or whatever about the charges, but the government paid out a bit of money, and formally apologised to the victims in about 2001/02- cant quite remember that much haha.

    check out the website-

(i googled it for ya haha)

  3. Lake Alice? As in the Psychiatric Hospital? If so, my heart goes out to anyone who was there during the problem period (25 - 30 years ago?).
