  1. If you've got all the necessities and it's legal to keep in your state (Here in FL, you can't have one without proper permits) and you've got someone to pass it down to (because it will outlive you if you care for it properly) and you have a pond to put it in when it's about halfway full-grown (10 gallons per inch of shell length is suggested for any turtle), great.

    Otherwise I'd rethink it.


  2. i think its an alligator snapper, look at its keels. could you post a better carapace shot? it could  clear it up for sure

  3. lucky :[ i want a snapper but dont know where to get one if u dont have a uvb bulb and heat source i'd get one  

  4. Nope, looks like a common snapping turtle to me, not an alligator snapping turtle.

  5. Madsnake could be right. Look at the upper shell. Are there three small scutes above the marginals (the ones that rim the shell). If so, you have an alligator snapper. If the marginals all touch the larger scutes, you have a common snapper.
