  1. The CVT is an excellent tranny in all Nissan models (I have it in the Versa).  Nissan really developed a fine CVT transmission.  Buy it.  Enjoy it.

  2. I own a 2006 Spec-v and i love it. I do have the 6 speed on mine but i've driven a couple Nissans with the Cvt transmission and they are really smooth and seem to always have enough power. I've driven both the SER and SER Spec-v and i am partial to the Spec-v but i don't know what you're looking for. But i would definitely stick with either one of those. I would highly recommend staying away from a dodge caliber or most american company cars at this moment. The car companies are broke right now and are not producing cars that will last you.

  3. I like it, it is a little cute car that would be perfect for you to buy, since it will be your first car!!

    Peace!

  4. The new Sentra with the CVT transmission is arguably one of the best options. But I suggest you compare it with the Dodge Caliber and especially with the Mitsubishi Lancer. Both models have the CVT and are below (or well below) the $23,000 mark. I like the Lancer. It has an aggressive italian design, a 3 suspension system and 8 air-bags. The difference is palpable. Indeed, Mitsubishi has recently won the Paris-Drakar rally. By far, the most prodigious and toughest terrain competition worldwide.

  5. Well I have a 2007 Spec V and its not a lot more expensive , But to be honest If i had it to do again id go for a normal SE-R , with CVT as its tedious having to change gear half way round pulling out from a T junction ( maybe a little too close ratio gearbox), That and the premium gas is costly in such a thirsty car - I get better mileage in my SUV.

The Mitso Lancer is a good bet as well - I test drove one at the time and its a real nice driver

  6. it's a nice little car, but if you are going to get the SE-R, learn to drive a stick and get the 6 speed.  you'll have a lot more fun and the car will really come alive then.
