  1. Typical! There no such thing with a baby. One day everything can go smoothly with feeds every 3-4 hours, naps in between and you even find time to have a shower do your hair and read a paper. But next day wham, the baby is off their feeds crying and you don't know why and you barely wash your face never mind the dishes. But relax and enjoy each day and things will find there own way to work out. Everybody is different.

  2. Well I have twins but at 6 weeks they basically were eating every 3 hours during the day and then sleeping about 5-6  hours at night.   5 hours IS considered sleeping through the night at this age.

6AM, wake & feed, back to sleep at about 6:30-6:45

9AM wake & feed, back to sleep by 10

12PM wake & feed, back to sleep by 1 or 1:30

3PM feed, longer play cycle, nap at 4:30 or 5

6PM feed, then bedtime routine of bath, massage, cuddle, put to bed sleepy but awake, usually around 7-7:30

11PM or midnight, they would wake for feeding

4AM they'd often wake for a small feed again

Gradually the 11PM & 4AM feeds consolidated into one 2 or 3AM feed.  They are now 10 weeks old and sleep from 7PM to 6 or 7AM with that one feed in the middle of the night.  We're working on getting rid of that one too.

Ideally by 12 weeks they should be sleeping 12 hours at night (with or without one feed during that time) and naps totalling 4 hours during the day.
