My first day at work at Publix...(a grocery store in Miami Florida). A man and his family bought groceries and a big cake...I asked him if he wanted it in a paper bag, he thought about it and said, "yes."

I slid the cake in the bag horizontaly (flat) then for some really dumb unknown reason I stood the bag up vertically (straight up)...after a while he looked at the bag and said...hmmmm cake standing straight up???? He kindly walked over to the bag and looked in and just as you guessed the cake was crushed on its own weight.

I was so embarrased and felt so stupid and like I was going to lose my job. But he walked out the story after paying for all the groceries and the cake...did not smile or frown, tipped me and drove off. He didnt ask for his money back even though I told him to go back to the counter.

....that was a kind man so was his family with him,

has any one ever did a kind deed like this to you.

  1. Today?  This customer was being really rude and nearly made me cry.  I rarely ever cry, and never from customers.  I ended up apologizing profusely to her for having the nerve to CHECK HER ID EVEN THOUGH POLICY CLEAR:Y STATES THAT WE D THAT FOR ALL ITEMS THAT HAVE YOUR NAME ON IT.  After she left, the customer behind her told me the lady was a nurse at this one hospital and that she was a total b**ch to everyone.  She and another customer backed me up that she had no right to be angry because there's an ATM RIGHT int he store where she easily could have taken out cash and kept her big mouth shut.  Every time I think of it, I laugh.

  2. Um... not like that.

One time I was in a skirt, and I dropped a book, and this nice teenager picked it up for me.

    It was sweet.
