Telnet help?

Once i connect to a server...what do i type in to do things?

sorry im a complete newbie.

i am connecting to an ftp server.

also any help on connecting to other computers through telnet would be useful.

  1. telnet and ftp do different things, but the commands you issue are the same ones you would issue in command prompt or terminal.  if you get lost, just type "help" without the quotes and you'll get a list of basic commands for that system


  2. Okay...if you want to use telnet. you go to Start>Run> type telnet <IP address of your server>. then press okay.

    A window will open if your server is working and it will ask you a password.

    Ex. telnet 192.168.1.2

    When you are now in the window or you have already access your server type: "?" question mark without quotes. it will give you some commands.

    Mostly, telnet is commonly used when checking router or configuring it.

  3. On command prompt write this: telnet /?

    With this command list all telnet entries
