wants to take over in Iraq & Afghanstan-----so why dont we just leave them alone & let them rattle their own sabers & winner take all?Maybe they could take their oil and make a drink or something to eat out of it & we can drive our electric autos.

Because a certain class of folks with a lot of pull in washington has dibs on all the oil left in the American oil fields.

And they'd like to keep the demand for oil good and strong until they can sell it all.

That requires influence in the middle east, which requires hundreds of billions a year in government expenditure for war adventures.

Which is ok by the oil dealers, since they don't plan to help pay for that war.  Or fight in it.

Questions arise about how to charge the batteries.  How much electrical power does it take to charge the batteries and for how long does the charge last.  Fifty percent of the electrical power in the U.S. comes from coal fired power plants that many people don’t want because they say they pollute.  There aren’t any inexpensive other forms of power. This car company doesn’t seem to want to inform the public about how much electrical power it uses to charge the batteries and how far the car will go on a charge. It looks as though we are trading a head ach for an upset stomach.  

The mid-eastern countries aren’t interested in rattling their sabers in their own area and if the terrorists can gain control over those countries they will come here as they did in the bombings of the towers.  We aren’t an isolationist country we can’t just play a defensive game.  So we either play to win or we loose.

the main prolbem is powering it for a long time. most fast electric cars acheve there speed by using thousands of small baterys linked up in seres to deliver large amounts of power quickly. this allows you to make the car go fast but you wont be able to keep going for long otherwise you will run out of juse.

currently there are too many limits on conventional galvanic  cell (battery) cars. the future is fuel cells such as hydrogen fuel cells. they can deliver those same large amounts of power and for longer piereods of time.

Because Tesla can't keep up with demand now and are a long way off from being able to produce enough to make a big enough dent to stop our dependency on foreign oil.  It would be wonderful if it were practical!
