Telwaar to prevail in the Group 3 Jersey Stakes at the Royal Ascot on 20th
June, 2012
With 26 runners competing in the Group 3 Jersey Stakes, it is hard to say who will win the seven furlong race, however, Telwaar and Reply stand out the most, and chances are that one of these two runners will take home the purse of £39,697.
Telwaar, trained by Peter Chapple-Hyam will have to rise up from his dismal performance last time out in the Group 1 Poule D'Essai Des Poulains at Longchamp on 13th May, 2012, where he finished 11 out of 12 runners in a mile
long contest.
With the exception of his most recent start, the son of Haafhd, out of mare Waafiah, has a decent record with two victories in his seven starts.
One of the things that will aid the runner on the track today is his familiarity with the track.
The three-year-old raced at Ascot on 18th June, 2011, when he participated in the seven furlong Chesham Stakes and finished sixth under the command of rider, Neil Callan.
The chestnut colt began this season with a victory, and he has the capability to perform an encore of that performance.
William Buicjk briskly guided the colt and covered seven furlongs in the Bet At Bluesquare.com European Free Handicap at Newmarket on 18th April, 2012, where he claimed a narrow victory over the Mark Johnston trained, Bannock.
Telwaar will enter the race under the command of jockey, Christophe Soumillon, and will break from post 20.
Telwaar has a number of factors working in his favour due to which he will trump the competition today.
The good surface of the track, the distance of seven furlongs, and the prior experience at Ascot are some of the things that will give him the edge over the rest of the participants, as he goes on to win the race.
The A.P. O’Brien trained, Reply, is also hoping that he can land the third victory of his career. The bay colt will break from post 9, and the young rider, J.P. O’Brien, will take the mount on him.
