Question:

Temp agencies are awful!?

Hi I have a question - why are all temp agencies rubbish? I posted on here the other day but I'm fed up of them!

I'm looking to retrain as a health care assistant but whilst I look into this and apply for jobs I need to temp as I'm not working.

I have registered with all of them in my area and they all claim to have no work- despite advertising that they do.

My CV's not bad - I've got great GCSE's and A levels, a foundation degree in lingusitics and got good experience. Used to be a checkout manager at Tesco (mad!) and also worked in HR 3 times so got loads of customer service skills etc. They turn me away and sound so smug as if I'm a waster for having no work - I don't even want it for long, just to tide me over! One lady is so rude she keeps snapping at me over the phone and is very unprofessional so reluctant to deal with her- but her agency does seem to find work for people.

I've applied for load of other jobs but don't even here back.

It's disheartening.

  1. Why do you bother with these middle men who take the cream of your wage, these are bad news and i totally think they should be illegal. There are jobs out there keep looking , Good luck.

  2. Hi - i have been in your situation. please bear the following in mind

    - rec agencies think that they are the bees knees but they are usually full of people who have failed with their degrees so they are bitter

    - to work in a rec agency you basically have to be a sales person so if your face does not fit you wont suceed

    - the best thing to do is to lie about how long you can work for them (if you tell them you can only work for 2 weeks they will not employ you)

    - they advertise for jobs that dont exist so they can get as many cv's as possible

please dont lose heart I have been there so many times
