My son is 6. At school he gets angry when other kids disturb him when he is doing his work. Teacher said he loses his temper in class. Knowing this other kids annoy him to make him angry. He is a good student and is very intense with his work. We do not push him or ask him to do well. He likes to study and takes things very seriously. He once said his friends were pushing him and saying that he took too much room although there was plenty of room on the desk on his friends side. He has got angry and the teacher has scolded him. He is a very sensitive child. When I told him not to get angry and that he must tell his friend politely he started crying saying he is always blamed for everything. He has breakfast at home and a snack at 10 am.

At home also he tends to lose his temper. He is an only child and has no cousins. He plays well with the other kids and interacts well with kids but is shy of adults.

  1. have the pediatrician evaluate him to rule out a medical cause.  get some counseling and take parenting classes.  model respectful behavior at home, get rid of the TV, sit down with him and listen to what he says, spend more time just doing nothing together, and get rid of your own anger.

  2. tell him to take a deep breath and count to 10 before he says anything. Sounds like these kids know he will blow and do it on purpose. The teacher also has to teach him to deal with his anger. He needs to realise about learning is fun too and can relax. My son was the same, he was there to work and nothing else. The teacher helped him to learn to relax and to have a little fun in class (not naughty, just when it is okay to talk then he can talk).

  3. Make sure he goes to bed early and doesn't have a sugary cereal in the morning.  Tell the teacher to give him a 2pm snack also.  And call the parents of the bullies.
