Lets say you are studying an area where the temperatures are usually moderate and mild. However, extreme temperatures occur on one or two days of the year. Which organisms would survive better in this area: organisms that are adapted to moderate temperatures or those that can tolerate extreme temperatures? Explain please.

  1. Since it only takes one death to kill an organism, then one day of temperatures hot - or cold enough to kill the 'mild adapted' organisms, would kill them all.

The area would fill up with organisms capable of surviving the extreme temperatures.

:-D This is also the reason you should take all the antibiotics the doctor prescribes for you. If you don't, then the few that can survive the medicine for as long as you take - which are stronger than the others - will live, and you will get sicker with them.

As somebody said... "Kill 'em. Kill 'em all."
