Temporary Mexico Vehicle Import Permit

My dad, went to mexico in Oct 2007, he drove his truck - he did get a Temporary Mexico Vehicle Import Permit. He failed to return the permit once he crossed back over to the US.

MY QUESTION:

Is there anyway OTHER THAN driving the truck back to a border town to submit the Temporary Mexico Vehicle Import Permit? Can he just mail the Permit? Or does the vehicle that the permit was issued for have to be present along with the permit?

  1. It can be done. Unfortunately, from what I know you can't just send it in.. Supposedly you have to have the vehicle at the border when you turn in your temporary permit... but, sometimes you can find mexican agents willing to bend the rules for a couple hundred dollars or so to do the transaction.. Your dad would have to go to the border to do this.. He needs to take the temporary permit with him and all of his original paperwork. Hope this helps you..
