I wish to get a public response on temporary agencies for office employment....what people think of them, the experiences that they have with them. Whether they are good or bad.

  1. i live in scarborough and some mates of mine used them. they are very sporadic in when you will work but they did get them jobs. one mate of mine got a great full time job out of it. he had to work through the agency for 3 months at the job before the company took him on as an employee.

I would say if you get lucky they are ok or if you are young and dont have to make alot they are ok too

  2. I got the job that I have right now (electronics technician) through a temp agency.  They would not have hired me otherwise, and many places hire temps and temps only these days.  What they do is evaluate you for 90 days, then if they like you, they offer to hire you directly from the temp agency.  It beats them having to find people on their own and the agency gets a cut out of your check (a small one, but one still) so it keeps them thriving.

I have maybe two tech certifications...no experience previously.  The qualifications for the job were for an associate's degree with four years of experience.

It's a great way to get a job if you know what you're looking for.

  3. I tried thinking of a positive experience, but unfortunately I've only dealt with (as in actually worked for) Absolute Recruitment lately. The last two assignments I was given were Data Entry positions. The second last one that I went to for 2 or so months had people there for the exact assignment but from Quantum. I was being paid $10 an hour while the people (who I had to help train due to them being newer)  were being paid 12.50 an hour, and this pay was for an afternoon shift at that. The latest assignment that I had just ended today, it was to be a 1 month contract, still not that great pay at $11 an hour, and I also went without even a 24 hour notice as they were scrambling to find someone 'last minute for a very important data entry project.'  Well, after 3 days of c**p random work such as filing and putting together binders, I finally did 2 whole days of data entry, and then today Absolute  tells me that my project is over- this after only 6 days ( and TWO days of data entry, as I just stated ), and it really sucks as I had to put off a job from AltisHR thinking it was going to actually last a month as was in the contract.
