  1. there is no point in deleting temporary internet files to free up disk space

unless you downloaded a big(around 1 GB)  file and did run then i wouldn't delete it

also just look through the file its self, if you find something important then save it

if you dont then just delete it

  2. do it manually by rite cliking into internet explorer >> properties >> der clear everything just dont click on clear history option it will keep ur history

  3. Regarding IE7: deleting your Temporary Internet Files will not delete your History or Favorites. Go to Tools > Internet Options and click the Delete button under Browsing History. There are separate buttons for deleting Temp files and History.

As a precaution, I always include my Favorites in the routine backup of my PC - I know I'd be lost without them : )

If you'd like to make a backup copy of your Favorites (in Windows XP), go to My Computer > C: > Documents and Settings > your user profile. From here, copy the Favorites folder and paste it into your My Documents folder. This will at least let you restore the folder if it ever gets erased by something. Obviously, to be called a "real" backup you would need to back this up on a different hard drive or, preferably, on a totally different system.
