Ten Best Goalies In The World - Part 2

Joe Hart - Manchester City and England: Joe Hart is believed by most to be the next best keeper of the English Premier League, he is loved by the media and the fans and he never seems to disappoint.
He is thought to be one of the best and most talented young goalies out there; he was also praised by Gordon Banks, Iker Casillas and Gianluigi Buffon, the World Cup winning goalkeepers.
Joe Hart does deserve the recognition of being the youngest goal keeper in this list.
Petr Čech – Chelsea and Czech Republic: Petr Cech is a definite member of this elite group of goalkeepers, as he holds the records in the English Premier League for the minimum appearances given before he came to a hundred clean sheets and
he did this in a total of a hundred and eighty Premiership performances.
Petr Cech also has the record for the Czech professional league of not letting in a goal for eight hundred and fifty five minutes straight.
He also held the record for most clean sheets in a single English Premier League season and that was for twenty five matches and this was set in Chelsea’s title winning campaign in 2004-05.
In the October of 2006 the Reading Midfielder Stephen Hunt and Cech were battling with the ball inside the penalty area in the first few minutes of the match and Hunt’s knee hit Cech on the head and this left the goalie dazed.
After this incident the player came back to the field wearing a rugby style head guard and continues to wear it to this day.
Maarten Stekelenburg – Ajax and Netherlands: Maarten Stekelenburg is a renowned outcome of the Ajax Youth system and he followed in the footsteps of Edwin van der Sar.
He became the goalkeeper for Ajax by replacing Van der Sar, and even managed to replace him in the Dutch national team. A lot of people agree to the fact that the team would not have gone to the World Cup 2010 final if they did not have Stekelenburg.
A lot of people wonder when this twenty eight year old goalie is going to move to a club like Bayern Munich, Chelsea or AC Milan but right now the player appears to be loyal to Ajax and does not want to move.
Gianluigi Buffon – Juventus and Italy: Gianluigi Buffon is thought by numerous football pundits and fans alike to be one of the most successful and dominant goalies in modern football.
Buffon has been named the Serie A goalie of the year nine times and was declared by Pele as one of the hundred and twenty five greatest living football players.
In the 2006 World Cup final, Buffon was in top form and only let in two goals while maintaining five clean sheet and has a record for a four hundred and fifty three minutes goal free streak.
The player only let in two goals and one was a Zinedine Zidane penalty in the final match against the French which resulted from a one to one extra time draw that came to penalties in which neither Fabien Barthez or Buffon could stop a spot kick. The second
goal came by a s***w up made by his own team mate Cristian Zaccardo when he scored an own goal in the match against the United States.
Gianluigi Buffon has a well deserved spot for him in the football hall of fame and has gone down in history as one of the all time greater goalies in football.
