Ten Golf to broadcast PGTI events for the next three years – Golf News
When the Indian golf fans were waiting for the upcoming ‘Ten Golf’ channel to be launched within a month, another story cheered them up. The Professional Golf Tour India (PGTI) received a three-year exclusive partnership with the exclusive golf channel.
The exclusive partnership between both the bodies will allow Ten Golf to broadcast all the PGTI-sanctioned golf tournaments scheduled between 2012 and 2014.
"We are excited about the partnership. In the last four and a half years we have marched ahead and grown reasonably well and we are confident that the expertise, knowledge and bandwidth of Ten golf will substantially help us to take Indian golf to the next
level,” Padamjit Sandhu, Director PGTI, said.
"We are today at a stage where it is important for us to showcase the depth of Indian talent and their achievements with the support of a professional electronic medium," he continued.
"To further grow golf, it is important to have a strong broadcast partner. With Ten Golf we see strong synergies," he added.
The golf players and experts have praised the step taken by Ten Golf and PGTI, as it will provide a huge exposure to the game of golf in India.
As the Indian golf is currently in the development stage, such kind of partnerships will help in boosting the morale of new players entering the field.
According to the media releases, Ten Golf will broadcast a special show named "Inside the PGTI" on a weekly basis, featuring the best golfing action from the PGTI.
Jyoti Randhawa, former Asian Tour number one, said that he was pleased to know about the partnership, as it will give great exposure to the Indian golfers.
He added that it will provide a platform for the players to be seen on television. Therefore, it will also provide them the opportunity for getting better sponsorship deals.
Manav Jaini, one of the emerging golf stars in India, said that creating a partnership between a leading sports channel and golfing body will promote the game in India.
Moreover, the Indian players needed a channel to support them and Ten Golf will now provide a face to their names, as most people know them by their names only.
