Ten day waiting period in CA?

Question

Just plain crazy. I buy a WW1 era bolt-action rifle and not only do I get a special fun charge of 25$ for a "background check" but I get to wait ten days.

Yes ten days to get my antique rifle that fires 1$ per bullet rounds rarely available.

What's wrong with this picture?

haha, hey i just wanted to say that the people who answered b4 me are dumb as h**l, anyway, are you serious, they charge a person to do a background check? d@mn, thats stupid...i mean, i understand the waiting period since it is a firearm, even though it's an antique...california does have them strict azz gun laws...I was reading the answers and was like, "did they even read the question, no1 would buy an old azz rifle like that to commit crime" lol...

These background checks are in place for very good reason.  So that these dangerous weapons don't end up in the wrong hands.  So someone who has history of gun violence doesn't get a hold of this.

Why do you need it in less than 10 days?  what's the hurry?

Nope, I've never fired a gun.  & anyone who has fired a gun, well, I wonder why.  There shouldn't be a need to.

& it's much easier to kill someone with a gun than with a knife.  A gun can shoot from a mile away.  A knife can only stab up close, and it requires a lot of force.

Maybe YOU know you haven't committed a crime since your last background check, but how does the gun store know?

Although large rifles are rarely used for crime, they still sometimes are.  Oswald killed Kennedy with a large rifle.

If bullets were put in that gun and the trigger pulled --would it still kill someone?  Yep.

Therefore the 10 day waiting period applies.
