  1. breadcrumbs. make them dry. it works better

  2. bread crumbs, or ground up cat food( i know that works for sure) or canned corn.

    good luck :)

  3. okey like aother people say goldfish can survive for couple of days but if you get a little sad for them you can feed them with small as in very small cumbers , bread, and peas hope i helped

  4. They sometimes eat small vegetables like peas or some lettuce.

  5. bread just roll into little balls and put just a very small amount because it can expand

  6. they can go a couple of days without food but try to go as soon as you can.

  7. You could very finely crush up a PLAIN water cracker and feed it to them - not too much or you might cloud their water

    :-)

You sound like a caring fish owner - just don't give the fish some cheese with their cracker treats

    ;-P

  8. Breadcrumbs :)

  9. Your fish will go for a day without food just fine.

He will also go for a week without food just fine.

So no worries on that front.

Your question does open up the issue diet variation for golds. In their wild form goldfish eat a huge variety of bits n' pieces all day long: insect larvae, aquatic plants etc.

So if you want to give your gold something different today, since you don't have his regular food, you can try to replicate that with fresh veggies such as:

    -kale (blanched)

    -collard greens

    -green beans

    -romaine lettuce

    -zucchini or cucumber (blanched)

-peas IN MODERATION: once a week, if you're seeing constipation or floaty probs. Peas are high in simple sugars and they should not be fed too frequently (contrary to a lot of misinformation on the net).

-Some people use broccoli. I find that it causes gas in sensitive fish so I avoid it.

You could also try some fruit -- ALL in moderation (once a month) because they're high in sugar (and most of them make a mess of the tank). Small pieces/slices of:

    -Banana

    -Orange

    -Lemon

For protein, most people use FROZEN (not freeze-dried) bloodworms. The San Francisco or the Hikari brands are good, they're both rigorously sterilized. DO NOT DO EARTHWORMS they are FULL of harmful pathogens. No live foods either unless you're breeding them yourself.

If you ever want to make your own gel food for your fish, which is INFINITELY superior to any commercial food since it doesn't have a wheat or grain binder (golds can't digest wheat) there are tons of great recipe ideas here:

    Have fun with it!

  10. Sliced zucchini can make great fish food as long as you slice it thinly and push it to the bottom of the tank.

  11. Goldfish can survive up to a week without food.

But if you want to feed it something from around the house, feed it the inside of a cooked pea to help with swim bladder.

    E-mail me for any questions!

  12. fresh vegetables (lettuce, thin sliced cucumber, etc) along with their normal flakes, also spirulina food. carnie goldfish are feeder fish, often full of diseases or very stressed from being treated badly and tossed about. people keep them in a bowl for a week then they die. rough life. poor fish. they are mostly for feeding larger fish, but they might pass diseases to whatever eats them. if you want to keep it, you will need a 30g/120l+ tank with a strong filter (goldfish produce a ton of waste) at first, but in the long run, a pond/very large tank would be best.

you might be able to feed it cheerios, someone i know had a friend with a koi pond. he fed them cheerios and they liked that. you could give the goldfish cheerios once and a while, but not as its main diet.

  13. they'll be able to survive.

if you feel the need to, you can give them small scraps of meat, or crumbs of bread.

  14. dry up some breadcrumbs

  15. frozen peas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  16. They also like slices of cucumber, zucchini and slices of orange.

  17. you're goldfish won't die from one day of not feeding. they're pretty hardy.

  18. breadcrumbs would work

or maybe some broken up crackers

or broken up bits of cereal

    best answer please

  19. Feed it:

    breadcrumbs

    little pieces of cereal

YOUR FINGER jk jk my betta bites my finger though XP

    OR

goldfish can survive a week without food so you could just get it tomorrow :) I'm sure your goldfish will forgive you for not feeding them today :P

  20. yes there is lots of things........

a cucumber slice (cut the skin and seeds off)

    a de-shelled frozen pea

    4 a zuchini slice

5 some shredded carrot (my goldfish never liked it though)

    6 a blanched lettuce leaf

    7 a blanched spinach leaf

  21. dry cat food might work make sure the food isnt too big or the fish might choke, but if you dont have a cat i dont know what to tell you but i think your fish will be fine for one day

  22. You cant even run to like wal-mart or kroger or something. but if you feed your fish everyday, one day with out food for him will not kill them. most people feed there fish every other day anyway. the fish should be fine.

  23. crackers, bread crumbs...anything like that would be ok

  24. gravy, flour, or cheese, gold fish eat anything really...trust me friend these sound weird but no joke

  25. fish can go a couple days without eating food, so you can just leave them and feed them tomorrow ! and if they're outside in a pond they can find flies and small frogs for themselves so don't worry !

  26. you can feed them breadcrumbs, worms from out in the garden, small insects, flies, aphids etc. vegetables (boiled) rice crispies but make sure their soaked in water 1st so they swell up. if you feed them rice crispies dry the rice crispies will swell in their stomachs and death from stress or stomach tearing will be unavoidable. hope this helped. but again they can go some time without food but it is fun feeding them new foods and watching them curiously taste it lol
