Who won the POLE for the first ever Brickyard 400? Not the race winner, the pole winner. Maybe this isn't as hard as I think, but it could be fun. Thanks.

  1. not only did rick mast win it, but then he went in and "redneck'ed" the press conference afterwards by talking about how he started out trading a cow for his first race car. they were talking about that on one of the espn "background at indy" segments on "nascar now." i thought it was hilarious.

    ;-)

but not near as funny as the following exchange from the press who were not too happy about "good ol' boys" invading the hallowed brickyard:

    ---------

""How did you get the money?" she asked.

"Well, I had a cow," he explained, "and I traded my cow for my first racecar."

"What was the cow's name?" she asked.

Mast looked at her and smiled just a little. She had stepped over the last log on the way to the fireplace and didn't know it. "Madam, where I come from cows don't have names until about 2 o'clock in the morning."
