a uniform board 4.0m long rests against a smooth wall making an angle of 50deg. with the floor. what horizontal force does the wall on the upper end of the board?

and B)what are the horizontal and vertical components exerted by the floor upon the lower part of the board?

  1. a) the horizontal force on the upper end is the normal or reaction force of the wall on the board.

    b) The vertical component is the g force acting downwards and the normal reaction force of the floor acting upwards. The vertical component is friction on the floor acting against the board and stopping it from slipping.

    Vertical force acting up at the lower end = 4.0 sin 40 deg.

    I'm too lazy to think of the rest, but I hope I helped.
