I'm looking for ways to keep my chinchilla happy and give him a little exercise while playing with him. I'm thinking about buying some course equipment to train him with. It doesn't have to agility equipment, but something I can train him with if you find something else. Just post the link and I'll check it out!!

I want a website that I can buy things off of. I don't care if I have to join as long as it doesn't cost money to join.

Ten points to who ever can give me a nice website where I can buy things!!

  1. before i answer what country do you live in? i'm guessing the UK but would rather give you the site relevant to your country

  2. There's really no such thing as 'training equipment' for chinchillas, but you can find lots of things for them to play with and jump on.  Actually, the best of these don't usually cost money.  Get large cardboard boxes and cut holes in them.  Get the tubes from the middle of toilet paper rolls.  If you have a carpet store near you, they'll give you, usually for free, the cardboard rolls out of the middle of carpet.  Chinchillas LOVE to run through these.  If you want, you can make hurdles out of Popsicle sticks.  That way if the chinchilla chews them, they aren't harmful.

Guess you could buy hoops and things as well just in the toy isle of your local store.  Try to get ones that aren't plastic if you can.  Usually you can find metal hoops for sale with amateur magic kits ;) Something like these: http://www.magicgeek.com/10-linking-ring...

If you want your chinchilla to be more agile, I'd suggest getting him the Flying Saucer.  Wheels make the chinchilla run with their backs curved, but the Saucer allows them to run flat.  And they are made of metal so the chinchilla can't chew on it.

You can't really train chinchillas either.  You can't trick train a chinchilla like you can a rat. So that means no 'roll overs,' 'sit,' or fetches. That, also, means that you can't agility train them. I've tried; they'll do the obstacles, just never on command.

The above website has lots of cheap things for your chinchilla to play with.  Some chinchillas will take ball-type items and kinda play soccer with them.  My chinchilla does. The 7" Macaw Bagel (1/2" thick) might work for chinchilla hoops a well, depending on the size of your chinchilla and those are safe for chinchillas to chew on.

At that website you can get tunnels and things.

Good luck building your course and possibly training your chinchilla!
