The current season has seen some emerging youngsters rise in the European leagues and these youngsters are slowly making their way in the 1st team. Let’s take a look at few of the potential stars in the making.
Mario Goetze (Borussia Dortmund)
The Dortmund starlet is still only 18 and is already being acknowledged as one of the best players of his age group. The German has been at Dortmund since 2001 but is expected to become a part of Joachim Low’s German side that is already filled in with some
talented youngsters. The 18-year-old has an arsenal of dribbling skills and is a very creative midfielder. Goetze is expected to join Joachim Low, a youth promoting manager having some selection difficulties if he keeps on playing the way he has been so far
this season.
Dani Pacheco (Liverpool)
The 19-year-old’s prowess in front of goal was the key behind Spanish U-19 teams’ run to the final of U-19 European championships. The product of the fabled La Masaia academy of Barcelona scored four goals for his side during the tournament and put Spain
ahead in the final against France. Like all Barcelona youth products, Dani Pacheco is a technically good player and has lightning speed along with good dribbling skills that cause opposition a lot of troubles at the back.
James Rodriguez (FC Porto)
The Colombian plies his trade in Portugal with FC Porto. Porto paid 5 million Euros for the striker’s services and attached a 30 million Euro buyout clause immediately into the 19-year-olds’ contract. The attacker previously played for Banfield in Argentina
where he helped them to their first Argentinean title and then shone in the Copa Libertadores and scored 5 times in the process. The Colombian can play on both sides of the flank and can handle himself physically as well.
Phil Jones (Blackburn Rovers)
Jones was not included in the England U-19 list as he is now being viewed as an U-21 international. The youngster also has a great chance of making it big in the Premier League as well and has already been likened to Chelsea’s John Terry. Sam Allardyce has
been impressed by the youngster’s ability to impose his presence in the side and will be looking to give the 19-year-old more chances in the future.
Gael Kakuta (Chelsea)
When the youngster moved from Lens to Chelsea in 2007, a lot was written against the move but now, the midfielder seems to have found his feet in England and is acknowledged as an emerging French talent. This summer, Kakuta showed why Chelsea made such a
big gamble by signing him when he helped Les Bleus to U-19 European Championship glory this summer. The 19-year-old is now getting more and more opportunities to play at Chelsea and seems to be improving every day.
Son Heung-Min (Hamburger SV)
The South Korean youth international has been touted as one of the best youngsters in German football but sadly, Hamburg will have to do without the youngster for at least 2 months after the Korean sustained a metatarsal injury during a pre-season victory
against Chelsea. The forward is called ‘Rocket’ by his team-mates and is great at cutting in from wide positions and has enough ability in him to fight for a first team place at Hamburger.
Thiago Alcantara (Barcelona)
The Brazilian is the son of Mazinho Alcantara who was a world cup winner with Brazil in 1994 and has had some opportunities already with Barcelona 1st team. The youngster is quick on the ball and has a great sense of positioning. The youngster
who chose to play for Spain instead of his native Brazil is a star in the making and will be given ample opportunities at Camp Nou to do so.
