My 6 month Rent is due to be renewed on august 22nd. I have not signed the renew forms yet but have paid the £50 fee to process the forms they have been sent to me and i need to sign and return them. However I do not think that I will now be continuing the renting of the property. I am the tenant.

Can I still get out of this as I have not signed the document for another 6 months yet??

Thanks In advance

  1. Yes you can get out of this, but you need to inform your landlord. PS you've blown your £50

  2. Yes -- you can.  But you might have to say goodbye to that $50 processing fee.  I don't think you are going to get that back.  It sounds like it was a fee to create the documents for you to sign.

  3. Yes you can you are not legally bound till you sign and return the forms.

  4. You are now within 30 days of expiry date. Depending on terms of your agreement you may have needed to give notice a month before end of term either to retain  or to terminate at the end of the term.

Usually your agreement will have specified this requirement since if it runs out without a rule in place, somebody has to be hurt by the action of the other.

Make your intention known immediately, or sooner.

  5. Yeah of course what can they do torture you into signing it?

  6. Yes, as you haven't signed and returned the tenancy renewal.

Be careful, though, as you don't want to lose your deposit, if you've paid for one. You may also be able to claim for a refund on the processing fee - this you will need to discuss with your landlord/agent. You should get in touch with your landlord/agent ASAP.
