Coming off a win in his second start of the season, 6-year-old Joe Woodard trained Tend marked his third win of the season with an emphatic win at Churchill Downs when he ran down Golden Country to post a win over him by 1 ¼ lengths in the $53,107 feature at Churchill Downs on 16 November, 2011.
Billy, Donna and Justin Hay’s Tend, kicked off the season on the 1st of January, 2011, in the Holiday Cheer Stakes over the Turfway Park’s synthetic surface over at six furlongs where he finished third on the money to winner Western Prospector and runner up River Bear. The winning time of the 6 furlong dash was 1 minute and 10.58 seconds.
Marking the start of the season with a third place finish, Tend was called back after 28 days to start in a stakes race once again, this time going six and a half furlongs and staying over the Turfway Park’s synthetic surface in the Forego Stakes.
 Tend under Perry Ouzts set the track on fire to defeat Cool Bullet and Bee Line’s edge to finish second and third respectively, while going on to cover the distance in 1 minute and 18.79 seconds.
The son of Dynaformer, out of mare Liable by Seeking the Gold, Tend didn’t run a single race for 19 months straight but at Churchill Downs on 16 November, 2011, Tend was called back to return to the race and upon his return he was simply magnificent.
Coming off the pace under his new jockey Corey Lanerie, Tend under mild urging woke up and took the lead nearing the three sixteenths pole to splash home in the six furlongs dash over a sloppy track as he covered the distance in 1 minute and 11.17 seconds.
It was a good break from the gate by Tend in the field of five his settled in fourth chased through the fractions of 21.80 seconds for the opening quarter mile and 45.79 seconds for half a mile.
Sent at the odds of 6 to 5, Tend wrapped up the win which earned him $33,000 which shot up his bank roll to $455,232 with 10 wins, 5 second place finished and 7 third place finished out of 31 career starts.
