Tendulkar becomes number one in Test rankings
Sachin Tendulkar’s innings of a double century and an unbeaten fifty has meant that he is now the number one ICC Test match cricketer in the world. The last time Tendulkar had become the number one cricketer in the world was more than eight years back when
he had scored a 193 against England at Leeds in August 2002.
Tendulkar, who had also scored a 90 in the first Test match against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 earned 82 rating points which took him to 891. At the second position is the Sri Lankan captain, Kumar Sangakkara, who is currently at 874 points. The other three in the top five
are http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758).
Earlier this month, Tendulkar had also won the ICC Cricketer of the Year award. In 2010 itself, he has scored 1270 runs which has seen him get to four centuries and two double-hundreds, the first time an Indian has scored six centuries in a calendar year. And
with five more Tests to go in this year, it could get even better from here.
Amongst other Indian cricketers, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Murali-Vijay-c78035 leapt to the number 57
position.
From the Australian perspective, Ricky Ponting scored three 70s in the series and went up three spots to go to the 16th position. Michael http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Clarke-c51120 had a horrible series alone with Michael Hussey and both went out of the top ten.
India had further good news as Zaheer Khan’s 12-wicket haul in the two Test matches propelled him to the fourth place in the bowlers’ ratings. He is now tied at fourth rank with James Anderson, behind http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Dale-c52110 Steyn, Graeme Swann and Mohammad Asif.
