Tendulkar was unlucky in the Mumbai Test, says http://www.senore.com/Cricket/R-Dravid-c2229 – Cricket News Update
Disappointed with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SR-Tendulkar-c2556’s lack of runs in the series against England so far, Rahul Dravid, the former India captain, believes that the batting-maestro has been a victim of unlucky dismissals.
The on-going series is an extremely important one for both the teams, with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AN-Cook-c1026 and company are keen to prove to the rest of the world that they have the capacity to deliver the goods against spin.
Two of India's most dependable batsmen, Rahul Dravid and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/VVS-Laxman-c2772, announced their retirement from international cricket earlier this year, putting additional responsibility on Tendulkar’s shoulders to hold the team’s batting together.
However, the great batsman has so far struggled in the four-match series, scoring merely 29 runs in three innings of the initial two Tests.
Dravid admits that the former Indian skipper played a rash stroke in the first Test against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/GP-Swann-c1501 to be caught at deep mid-wicket. However, he feels that luck has not been on Tendulkar’s side in the Mumbai Test, where he faced a couple of unplayable deliveries.
“He'll be disappointed with the shot he played to get out in Ahmedabad on a relatively flatter wicket, and then to see other people score runs. Here, he was a bit unlucky: the first ball that really spun on the first morning was the one that got him,” Dravid mentioned.
Some of the former cricketers and sporting pundits have slammed the batting-maestro’s form and have been asking for his retirement from international cricket, in order to make way for the young players.
However, Dravid is confident that the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820-born cricketer will perform well in the remaining two matches of the crucial series.
The former captain added, “Until then there weren't too many balls spinning. And then he played for the spin in the second innings and the ball straightened on a track on which every ball was spinning.”
The third Test of the battle is going to commence from December, 5, 2012, at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata, with the series currently level at 1-1.
