Tendulkar’s birthday upset by Sai Baba’s death
The gala event of Sachin Tendulkar’s 38th birthday turned into a somber affair yesterday, 24th April, due to the death of his spiritual leader, Sathya Sai Baba. The Indian legend loved Sai Baba immensely, thus, sullen by his death.
The entire http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 was geared up to celebrate the auspicious day of the cricket guru but the bad news killed all the joy. Tendulkar locked himself into the hotel room with a note of ‘Do not Disturb’ on the door, making his fans weep.
Sai Baba was a famous saint who had been showering spiritual blessings on the Indians since a long time at his shrine in Puttaparthi. He showed the right path to the strayed ones and healed the spiritual difficulties of many people.
After playing the Sri Satya Sai Unity Cup in 1997, Tendulkar became an ardent devotee of Baba. He used to visit his shire regularly to seek spiritual guidance and get blessings. Moreover, Tendulkar’s role model, Sunil Gavaskar, was also a follower of the
saint.
Before the start of the ICC World Cup 2011, Tendulkar went to Baba to get himself recharged with passion and get heavenly energy in a bid to perform well during the tournament. Tendulkar remained instrumental throughout the mega event, steering his side
to lift the coveted trophy at their home ground after a 28-year gap.
Tendulkar had sworn to visit Baba immediately after the IPL 2011 tournament to pay him homage for his World Cup glory. On Saturday, Tendulkar said, “I am praying for Sri Satya Sai Baba’s quick recovery. Hope everyone will join me in praying for his return
to good health.” But all ended yesterday.
Yesterday, Tendulkar was at http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820 Indians against Deccan Chargers in the 27th fixture of the IPL tournament. He was supposed to commemorate his birthday with great jubilation as the World Cup victory was also intertwined
with his birthday celebrations. The Indians were also much excited to have this gala event just after the World Cup.
After Tendulkar locked himself in his room, some analysts even predicted that he might not play the game. But he came out soon to lead his side. Perhaps it was the impact of Baba’s death that he could not do well on the field and Mumbai Indians lost the
game.
Seeing their legend sad and tearful, the natives of Hyderbad cancelled the plan to arrange a 39 Kg cake for the birthday and went to the stadium to watch the game with heavy hearts. The music system at the stadium remained mute and everyone observed a two-minute
moment of silence as a mark of respect for Baba and Tendulkar. However, Tendulkar did not talk about Baba before or after the game. Thus a gala day passed in a somber way.
