Question:

Tennessee Probation drud test

I am on county probation in Tennessee. My conviction was alchohol related...no other drugs involved. My question is I've taken valium (many) last night. I was wondering if they even test for benzos. This will be my last probation visit and have not been tested yet. The PO seems to like me also. I had to pay a fee up-front $20 for drug screens. Any ideas? I am not perscribed valim. The $20 makes me think it is a cheap test that may not be accurate. PLEASE HELP!!! The PO visit is in 3 weeks.

  1. Although I cannot answer exactly what your probation department may test for, in my department we have a standard test that tests for several substances.

The most common substances tested for are: alcohol, marijuana, cocaine, benzodiazepines, opiates, amphetamines and methamphetamines.

Benzodiazepines generally stay in your system for 4-7 days.

The costs of the test doesn't mean it is a cheap test.  Most 6 and 7 panel tests costs anywhere from $12.00 and up.  It gets more expensive if the department wants to confirm the drug test and can cost upwards of $50 to do GCMS testing.  Also, remember that the department buys in bulk, so their testing supplies are even less expensive.

On another note, if you are using valium, without a prescription, you are violating your probation.  Regardless of whether you are on probation for just an alcohol related offense.  Using a drug without a valid prescription is a crime, as is using a controlled substance.  Since you are on probation, you really need to lay off that stuff or you risk getting yourself in serious trouble.

As a PO myself, I like to do back to back drug tests.  I sometimes test my clients on a Tuesday and then do surprise drug tests on Thursday.

Think of it this way, you want your PO to play by the rules ... so you should play by the rules to..

  2. IF YOUR NOT VISITING FOR 3 WEEKS YOULL B FINE. YES THEY TEST FOR BENZO'S, THEY TEST FOR IT ALL AT THE PO. IF THEY HAVE NOT TESTED YOU YET.. THEY PROBABLY WONT. BUT NEVER TOO CAREFULL. YOU CAN ALWAYS SAY YOU HAD  A HEAD ACHE AND SOME ONE GAVE YOU SOME THING... BUT NEVER THE LESS.. IT WILL BE OUT OF YOUR SYSTEM IN 4 DAYS MAYBE 5... oKaY? GOOD LUCK

  3. Many drug testers will do spot checks for Benzos.  Also, if you were not proscribed the Valieum, you could be in violation of that DEA warning that limits drug use to the person who was proscribed.  It dpesn't matter if th PO liikes you - drug tox checkers know that those with substance abuse issues (and that DOES include alcohol) will try and satisfy their need for mindbending substances by using exotic (ie non-Marihuan, Cocaine or Opiate based drugs).  So it wouldn;t be unusual for a cocaine user to test (+) for opaites, or for a heroin user to use marihuna, and therefore it might be tested for.  They might surprise you with tkat kind of test given that you're at the end of your probation.

It doesnb;t matter how cheap or inaccurate the test is - you agreed to accept probation's test as a condition of your probation, and unless you challenged any negative results, you can't start taking issues with the one that got you.

Depending on how much of what kind you took, your junk can stay in you for a week upt to a month.

  4. Drud test?  Sounds like you're still using :-))
