Tennessee Titan's defensive end Dave Ball says once thought of retirement – NFL News
The Tennessee Titan's defensive end Dave Ball said that his latest injury, concussion, had forced him to give a thought to his retirement from the game.
He has suffered three concussions in the last two seasons and said that the latest injury made him considered retirement at one stage.
The player started in the practice session on Friday however he is doubtful for the game against the Atlanta Falcons. During the last season he was out of the game after 11 games.
"I thought of that," he said of retiring. "But I'm not at that point yet. It would take a couple of more hard knocks before they can knock D. Ball out of there, right?"
The player said that he has made progress in recovery consistently and expected to play against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the week after next week.
His views were backed by the Tennessee Titans team. They expect him to miss the Falcons game and play against the Buccaneers.
"He's had a history of it, but we're being safe about it, and it seems like by next week, he should be available," Titans coach Mike Munchak said of Ball.
Ball said that he had consulted with doctor and according his opinion he should be fine for return next week. He said that he had received advice from Dr. Gary Solomon at Vanderbilt, which has convinced him that he will be fine
for the return into the week 12 of the current season of American football's premier league, National Football League (NFL).
Also, Tennessee Titans linebacker Colin McCarthy is out for second straight day with a knee injury. The injury has put his participation in the weekend game doubtful. However, he will be evaluated on Saturday to assess if could
play the Sunday game.
The team has listed him questionable. He has been joined by the Gerald McRath, the linebacker, who has suffered a hamstring injury.
Two more Titans expected to play the Sunday game have been added to the injury list on Friday. They include Barrett Ruud with groin injury and receiver Nate Washington with illness.
