Tennessee Titans' defensive end William Hayes to appeal against fine – NFL News
Tennessee Titans' defensive end William Hayes said that he will appeal against the fine imposed on him by the National Football League (NFL) office. Hayes had been fined by the NFL $ 15,000 for a hit on Atlanta Falcons’ quarterback
Matt Ryan. He said that he planned to appeal the fine.
According to him he had been fined for putting too much weight on Falcon's player when he hit Ryan. The player however said that the hit was not deliberate. He said he fell to Ryan's side and hit him in his efforts to avoid the
same.
He said that he did not understand the rule and would like someone from NFL office to explain him. Hayes added that it was difficult for him to understand that how he could tackle a quarterback and not to put any weight into his
hit.
"They hit me over the head with a mean fine," Hayes told The Tennesseean on Wednesday. "It was very surprising. They said it wasn't a late hit, that I distributed too much body weight to the quarterback. I don't understand. I hit
him and I fell off to the side of him."
Titans' defensive end, William Hayes, had been flagged for roughing up a passer. He had hit Flacon's Ryan just after throwing down a pass. He also picked up a 15 yards penalty in the second half of the game.
Two more players have been fined by NFL which includes Seattle Seahawks safety Kam Chancellor. He had reportedly been fined $40,000 for a helmet to helmet hit on St. Louis Rams tight end Lance Kendricks.
"Being a tall DB like I am, I was aiming for the guy's chest,” Chancellor said. "While he was falling on the way down, I turned my head to the side like they asked me to do from the previous week and led with my shoulder. And when
he fell down his head went into my shoulder, and that's the call. And they were looking for that call, so that's what happened.”
Meanwhile, Captain Munnerlyn, Carolina Panthers cornerback had been imposed penalty of $5,000 for violating NFL's uniform policy.
