Tennessee Titans QB Jake Locker likely to return from separated shoulder by next game – NFL News
Tennessee Titans coach Mike Munchak has confirmed that the injury of their new offence leader quarterback Jake Locker is a separated shoulder, as proven by the latest MRI scans results, but the official is still hopeful of the player’s availability in the
home game against the San Diego Chargers this Sunday.
While another evaluation of the quarterback is due later this week, which should determine his status for the game and if it happens as hoped by the coach, the player is expected to share the workload with QB Matt Hasselbeck, who had replaced him in the
season opener after the injury.
The coach said:
"If we still feel he can be productive, run around and do the things he needs to do to play the position, then we're going to be fine with him playing. If for some reason he's not able to do those things, then we won't put him in a position that he shouldn't
be in."
Both, the team and player, had ruled out the possibility of a serious injury earlier this week. As a matter of fact, they even did not disclose what exactly the injury was, which now turns out to be a separated shoulder.
The incident occurred during the very first appearance as a starter by Locker in the last game against the New England Patriots, and after lasting for initial few plays he was replaced with former offence leader Matt.
Matt will again replace Locker if he is unable to get ready in time for the next game. Interestingly, the coach has not thrown light on the latest health and fitness status of the player, and especially whether he has taken part in any team practice this
week.
He nevertheless is not hundred percent yet and as reflective in the coach’s talk they will not compromise on the offensive situation and are preparing Hasselbeck to fit in the role in an event of adversity.
Locker's performance in the opener was lower than the team’s expectations but Hasselbeck did not impress them either. The coach expects a better run from both offensive players in the next game.
